Happy Memorial Day!

I want to start by thanking all of our military both present and past for their service to our country.  I am truly thankful for the freedoms we have been given!  I want to especially thank my husband and all of our friends and family that have served or are currently serving.  You mean the world to us!

We had a great weekend with family.  Saturday was raining and yucky, which is typical of Missouri Memorial Day weekend.  We went to my niece's graduation party, (woohoo, go Haylee! ), and had a great time visiting with family.  Our other niece, Ashley and her husband and daughter drove up from Oklahoma to surprise Haylee and surprised all of us, too!  It was so great to see them!
Then Sunday and Monday were so beautiful!  Monday we took advantage of the beautiful weather and went to my mother-in-law's and swam and ate barbecue.  Yummy!  Burnt hot dogs are my favorite!

The day was so perfect being with Lee's family.  I am so blessed to have them in my life.  They are just so very good to me and my family:)

Reese and I ended the day with polishing our little piggies pink.  I sure do love those little toesies!
Hope all of you had a wonderful weekend with your families!!

Wednesday...well wasn't that great.

Don't forget to sign up for the GIVEAWAY!!!  You have 5 more days to enter to win!  Tell your friends!  :)

Yesterday I woke up to this:

Sweet right??  It really was.  I should have just enjoyed it and smiled really big, but being the grumpus that I was, I took a picture and went on my (un)merry little way.  I am not a total meanie...I did say thank you and told him I loved him too.

You see, usually my Wednesday mornings start out with the wonderful women of WOW.  It's an amazing group of women that study the bible.  Well, our last session was the 4th and my class decided to meet and finish all of our lessons during the summer months.  I look forward to it every week!  It's my favorite.  We didn't have it yesterday. :(  Do you ever wake up and have the feeling that the day isn't going to go as planned.  Let me just tell you, I should have gone back to bed.  It was one thing after the other yesterday.
You know how that goes.  And I got caught with my hand in the cookie jar...literally.  Don't ask.

I am a person of routine and a total control freak.  It's ugly sometimes.  But, I am working on it. It's also very hard for me to get out of my grumpus mood when I'm stuck.  It's also very ugly.  So, I was just sour.  I know that I should have just taken a minute and counted my blessings. I should have prayed about it.  But, I didn't.  It's funny how we learn our lessons.
So, today I have vowed to make it a better day.  I have so much to be thankful for!

Today I woke up to this:

I think that I will:)

Friday Fieldtrip and First Haircut

Looking for the GIVEAWAY?? Leave a comment for a chance to win a one of a kind bag:)

Last Friday was the kindergarten field trip at Ry's school and I got the privilege to help chaperone! I'm not sure who was more excited about it, him or me! The kids took a bus and went out to Longfellow's nursery and garden center where they got to learn all about flowers and plants. They colored pictures of flowers, took a tour and got to even plant their own flowers to take home.  While on the tour, they had display fountains set up in a few areas.  We came to one that had a yellowish color water coming out it.  My assumption was that it was recycled rainwater.  One of the kids pointed to it and said "Ew, look at that dirty water!"  And wouldn't you know it, before I could retort with my so smart rainwater theory, my son (of all people) said "Nope, that's not water.  It's beer."  Now, tell me how in the world he would ever know the color of beer! LOL.  We don't even keep beer in the house and it's a rarity for my husband and I to even drink one around him.    But, apparently, it comes out of the non-existent fountains all over the yard.

Ry and his Begonia

The begonia...or bezanya as one of the boys called it.  HA!

After leaving the garden center, the kids got to go to a park to eat lunch and play on the playground.  They had so much fun!  That's the thing I love about kids.  It doesn't matter if they play on a playground every day, but when they get to go to a new place, they act like it's the best thing on Earth!  So sweet!

I had a great time with the kids.  They were all so sweet and so excited!

Then Saturday I had to work and Ry went to the movies and spent the night with his cousin.  So, it was just Lee and I and the wild woman.  We went and had pizza and came home and I gave miss Reesie her very first haircut.  Her hair took forever to come in and is so curly, it just looks super short.  The ends needed trimmed up because they were knotty.

She sat completely still and loved every minute of it!  I think that I am going to have a princess on my hands!

I have to tell you all one more thing.  When I picked up Rylee and another friend Gage today after school, I went through the usual questions with them.  You know-how was your day, what was for lunch...etc and Ry said good and hamburgers and then took a deep sigh in.  He said "But, you DO NOT want to know what happened in specials!!"  Uh oh.  I was worried that he had gotten in trouble so I reluctantly asked what happened while looking in the rear view mirror at him.  He said "Sally kissed George!!"*  And I immediately started chuckling.  He said "Mom, kissing is NOT allowed in school!", and Gage chimed in "Yeah, that's something teenagers do."
Oh, boy.

Hope you all had a happy weekend and a happy Monday!  I was so happy to see the sun shining today in the clear blue sky:)

GIVEAWAY!!

Ok, y'all.  If you have read my blog or know me, you know how much I love sewing and crafting and all things handmade.  I am always making things and for sometime now I have been wanting to start my own etsy shop and/or sell my goods.  I have dabbled a little bit in some things for friends and family, but have always been apprehensive about marketing it on etsy.  My main goal is to make things that people love and that I am proud of.  I love making people happy!
So, an oppportunity came up where I got the chance to make one of my bags for a blog idol of mine! :)  She just happens to be the cousin of one of my dear friends and she is awesome!  Ashley over at Ashley's Avenue is so incredibly down to earth and a woman of incredible faith.  The reason I love her and her blog so very much is because she is so real.  She is herself in every sense of the word and shows all of us that we can still be cute and fashionable without breaking the bank.  She inspires me to use my faith to be a better person, wife, mother and blogger:)!

So, in talking with her after she received the bag, I have decided to do a giveaway right here on my blog for my one of a kind bags (made with Amy Butler's fringed hobo pattern) to kick off me starting an etsy shop!!!  Yay!!!  And the best part of it all, I am going to let the winner choose the colors for their bag and rosettes!  I am so excited about it!

Leave a comment with your email on this post and I will randomly pick a winner next Thursday May 19 , 2011.

And by all means, please go visit Ashley and her sweet blog HERE!!  She truly is lovely:)

Mother's Day weekend

I had such a wonderful Mother's Day!  It was a crazy busy weekend with me working Saturday for prom and then that evening we had a wedding reception to attend.  We had a fun time seeing family and friends we hadn't seen in a while.

I woke up Sunday morning to fresh blueberry pancakes made by my hubby! I LOVE me some blueberry pancakes!  Yum!  My favorite.  :)
The rest of the day was pretty low key, which was perfect!  We did have dinner with Lee's sister and her family and his mom, which was really nice!
I snapped this picture of Reesie and our niece Haylee at dinner.  Aren't they so sweet?
Hope you all had a Happy Mother's Day!

Cinco de my three-oh...plus one!

Today was my 31st birthday and I spent it just the way I wanted. I can do what I want. After all, it is my birthday. At least that's what I kept telling my husband. Lol.
We had a wonderful day and saw two (yes, you read that right) movies. A little of this...

And a little of that...

Both were fantastic!! I just finished reading "Water for Elephants" and couldn't put it down. And of course my two favorites were in it. Both the book and movie were both great! And as for "Fast Five", I thought it was as good as the original or better. And there was plenty of yummy eye candy!!;)

And in between we did a little retail therapy and had some Mexican food. Complete with a margarita!! It is Cinco de Mayo after all!!:)

Happy happy!!
