A weeks worth of FUN!

I've been quiet this week because we were actually on a mini vacation down at the Lake of the Ozarks! The hubby had a conference, so the kids and I joined him and I am so glad we did! Not only was it nice to get away, but taking the time to relax and enjoy my family was soooo needed! I am so tightly wound (not me...lol) and I needed this week to show me how to relax and appreciate all of my blessings! I easily get caught up sometimes and forget to take one moment at a time. So I'm thankful for the time away:)

So because I took a bazillion pictures, I'm gonna break it up into a couple posts:)

But first, Saturday was not only our anniversary, but the birthday party for our little friend Kenadie. The party included two bounce houses (one had a slide) and a sno-cone machine! How could we pass that up?:) It was a kid's dream and honestly a little bit of mine too. Lol.

The birthday girl:) How darn sweet is she???

Kenadie, me and Reesie girl. Yep, I went down the slide, too!! I couldn't resist.

My handsome boy. Notice the soaked shirt? They played hard!

Jordan and Jayden(my best good friend's darling sons) and Ry posing for the camera:)

Reese and cutie Chase:)

We had a great time and enjoyed the party. It's always fun to watch your kids get so excited and play!

I'm off to bed now, but more about our week tomorrow:)

PS- did you notice how I posted this? My husband sure spoils me rotten!!:)

7 year bliss!

Today my sweet husband and I celebrate 7 wonderful years together! It seems like just yesterday we were young kids falling in love. He asked me this morning if I thought that 7 years ago our life would be where it is now. Honestly, it is better than I could have imagined! He and I have been through so much and have overcome it all through faith and love. We are blessed with two beautiful children and a true love to last a lifetime! We laugh daily and can truly be ourselves with each other. I still get the butterflies when he is around. Each day is an adventure and I am so glad we are in it together:).

Lee, my love for you grows stronger everyday! You are an amazing man, father and husband. You have been with me through good times and bad and loved me every step of the way. You are kind, loving and the best friend I could have. Thank you for being you and loving me just as I am.

Happy anniversary, love!

Slacker slackington

Ugh. I'm a slacker. A terrible one, too! I do so well and then I miss a week. But, here I am. Trying again:). The thing about me is that my kind gets cluttered up with so many things. Anyone else like that? I know that when I write things down and make lists the clutter dissipates, but I forget. And then there's the clutter once again! Lol
So, I did an ok job on the photo month thingie. I really enjoyed doing it, but then I got to the day where I was supposed to use a long exposure and couldn't do it with my handy dandy iPhone, so I gave up. Then the week got the best of me and here we are. Let's see. Where was I?
Last week kind of went by in a blur. Story of my life.
Um...well this weekend was great with the family. We celebrated Father's Day at home and threw some hot dogs on the grill. And the kids enjoyed bubbles and water guns outside in the cooler weather.

And (drum roll please) I actually went for a run! Woohoo! And guess what else?? I did it again on Monday! And then guess what. Yeah. I hurt myself. Already. But, my geriatric hip is feeling a little better today. Nothing like taking a few rest days after starting back up. Good golly! I just permanently smell like icy hot. No big.
Then Monday we went over to the bf's house and let the kids play. The boys quite enjoyed some play station time together while we took the girls down to the kiddie pool in the backyard. It was so relaxing and much needed for Mika and I! I'm glad that our kids get along so well!

And I also finished this on Tuesday.

I LOVE to read and this book was recommended by a good friend and I loved it! It was the sweetest love story and she is hilarious! I just started something new, so when I finish it I'll fill you in!:):)

It was a beautiful day yesterday to sit and read. I can't tell you the last time I took an hour to do so. I am squeezing all the happy out of the summer I can get!:)
God is so good!:)
I'll try not to be such a slacker!

Library and my little chicken littles

I am behind in my day pictures, so here they are:)

Day 13: Yourself with 13 things

So I don't know if this counts, but I'm going to make it count! We had bunco last night so what's better than me with those 13 dots on the dice! It was fun but I didn't win anything :(

Day 14: Eyes

These belong to my Pootie pup. She is a 9 year old golden retriever that has a heart of gold:)

So yesterday the kids and I went to the library. Rylee got his very first library card and got to check out 4 books! He was so proud.
We played with the toys first and then looked for books.

As we were getting our library cards, Reese decided to be a terrible two year old. Lol. I will spare you all of the details but it involved stickers being stuck to shelves, running around in two stacks and me trying to put my car keys back together while trying to wrestle her from running away again. Oh and a hairbow thrown 10 feet.
Once I gathered my things, children, thoughts and composure we went to the art room and used recycle-able art to make daddy a couple piggy banks.

(Yes the hairbow was back in, but look at that face. Not happy!)

So needless to say, the trip was unfortunately short lived. There's always next time:)

So today after running around doing errands I came home to do laundry and dig into this fabric I got last week. I fell in LOVE with it.

I'm really not a chicken person but the color and print totally caught my eye. So I made this little sling bag.

I love it!! I have been wanting a sling bag for a while and am so excited about this one! Yay for my little chicken littles!:)

I also made a cute jean skirt out of a pair of jeans I don't wear. But, more on that later!

Happy Tuesday! Toodles!:)

Weekend fun!

I have slacked in posting this weekend, but only because I have spent the whole weekend with my sweet little family:) More on that later. But first, here are the pictures from days 10,11 and 12.

Day 10: Childhood memory

One of my favorite things as a child comes as no surprise at all. I loved craft time!! I still love craft time, duh!! My mom told me that when I was little I had to have every single crayon and marker in every single color. And I'm still that way! Even my planner has all different colors in it:). So, Friday night the kids and I had craft night. I used to love those days with my mom when I was little! She is an incredible artist and I wish I had half of her talent!

Day 11: something blue

My favorite water jug of all time! My camelbak that my sweetie bought for me while I was training.:) Yeah. I know. I know. I'm still trying to get motivated. Ugh I'm such a slacker!

Day 12: Sunset

I just took this off the back deck and am so grateful that we had such an incredible day today! God is so good!:)

We had a wonderful weekend. Like I said, Friday night the kids and I had craft night while Lee was at work. We wished he was home to help, but the kids were super excited to show him their works of art:)

Saturday we had a garage sale which was actually kind of slow. I was so surprised because the weather was really nice. That's probably the reason it was slow. It has been CRAZY hot here, so I'm sure everyone was out enjoying the beautiful cool 70 degree weather!

And today my husband and I enjoyed 9 holes of golf together. I'm still terrible, but I did have a great time and am trying to find my comfort zone. And we had another beautiful day with 70 degree weather:)

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Day 9: someone you love

Warning: public display of affection ahead!!:)

Everyone who knows me or reads my blog knows how much I love my kids. They are my world and I tell them everyday that I love them more than the sky! But, without God bringing Lee into my life, I would never have been blessed with these two precious gifts.

I can't express how truly blessed I feel to have this man in my life. He is incredibly kind and caring and brave and loving. He is my hero. He listens to me even when I'm boring. He comforts me when I'm sad or upset. And sometimes I think he knows me better than I know myself! Don't get me wrong, things aren't always perfect, but I love him with all of my heart and with God's help and love, we can do anything!
So the "someone" I love is my husband Lee. I love you more than you will ever know!

Day 7: Fruit

My little strawberry shortcake.

Her "cheeee" face. Maybe she should be strawberry cheesecake. Lol.

On another note, I'm officially a golfer. Yep, I played nine holes today with my hubby. I am terrible, but so thankful for getting to spend time together doing something we both enjoy. We are hoping to make it a weekly thing together:)

I have always been doing some crafting and working on ideas for my etsy shop:). I'm so excited!!! I'm mailing out my giveaway bag tomorrow so I'll post pictures once I know she got it in the mail. I want her to see it first:)

Hope you all had a happy Tuesday!

Back in the saddle

First I'm going to show you my day 6 picture then I'll get to the post title.
Day 6: from a low angle

I was laying on the floor with my iPhone camera pointed at the ceiling when my husband asked what I was doing. I told him I was trying to get inspired for my picture of the day. Duh (winning)! Except for I wasn't. Anyway he told me to go outside, lay below the tree and take a picture. Well the tree part was a great idea. But not so much the laying down part. You see we have cicadas. It's some sort of 13 year species and there are supposed to be something ridiculous like 22,000 around our area. They shed, mate, are loud and stink! Yuck and yuck. So anyway being the chicken I am, I ran out to our big tree and took a picture standing under it. In high definition. Yep on my phone. I think it's pretty cool.

So on a different note, it's time for me to get my hineyland in gear and start running again. I have run sporadically since my half marathon but nothing consistent and certainly nothing impressive. I have my sights set on a specific half marathon in the near future, so I need to get back in the saddle. Isn't it funny how we love doing something so much and when we don't make it a priority we forget. That's kind of how I feel about running. I LOVE to run. It's my therapy and it's so freeing. Now I'm just kicking myself for waiting so long. It's gonna be heck these first couple of weeks!!

So tomorrow is the day. I'm putting it on my blog to hold me accountable. Now I gotta do it. No excuses!:)

Back in the saddle again...

Day 5: from a high angle

Today would have been the perfect day for skydiving. That would have made a way cool picture but I'm super afraid of that. So instead, I stood on the bed and took a picture of Ry. Same same.

Isn't he cute?

We also made it to the pool today for a bit. Miss priss was in full action!

Off to sleepyland!:)

The tooth fairy's a comin'!!

Today while at Grandma's house, my bubby lost his very first tooth!! He was having an ice cream cone and it came out with a bite. Just like that. I can't believe it. He is just growing up so fast!

And lookie there. The new one has already started to grow in! He already put the tooth under his pillow:)

And today was day 4: something green.

We were watching the Cardinals game today and so wishing we were there. A girl can wish right? So I took a picture of the tv. Isn't that grass amazing?:):)
Yay for Saturdays!

I'm a hip hop dancer...

Not really but I do wish I were sometimes! This is my day 2 picture: what you wore today.

Thus the title. If I can't be one, at least I can look like one:) And watch them on ABDC!

Here is day 3: clouds

Today was an absolute gorgeous day here and there wasn't a cloud in the sky! So, I'm using this picture of the sky I took on Sunday May 22, 2011. This was right after some terrible storms went through our area. The picture is unedited and taken with my iPhone. It also happened to be the night of that terrible EF5 that went through Joplin. It is amazing how beautiful the sky can be after something so wicked. We are still praying for the courageous people of Joplin that they may find peace in God's love!

By the way I've decided to all my pictures on my iPhone. I think it will make it more fun. Plus I don't have one of those fancy dancy big time cameras. I'm praying the camera fairy brings me one soon:) lol
Hope you have a great weekend!!

New shoes:)

I am obsessed in love with the color blue right now.  I am also obsessed in love with spray paint.  And who doesn't love new shoes?
So, the other day I saw this tutorial by one of my favorite blogs.
And I knew I had to do it.
So, I did.

And these old, tired, worn out shoesies.

Turned into these beauties! How can you not LOVE them?

I can't wait to dig through my closet!  Next I want to Mod Podge some:)

I also am going to (try) to do this30 day challenge for the month of June.

So, here is Day 1:Self-portrait

Won't you join me?

Fore!

I have a confession. Until yesterday I had never stepped foot onto a golf course. I never have had the desire to and thinking of it actually makes me feel impatient. My hubby and I have been together 10 years and he has actively golfed since I've known him. In the past year though, he has developed a greater love for it. So yesterday he went with a couple of friends and asked me if I wanted to meet up with them. I told him that I had a million things to do, but he convinced me to go anyway. I had a doctor's appointment in the morning (I got my ears flushed out. It was amazing and I can actually hear the cicadas now. Can you believe I couldn't before!! Crazy huh? Anyway...) so after I was finished I met them on the back nine. See how much I've learned...lol.

I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed myself! Not only was it a beautiful day, but spending time with my husband not worrying about stuff was exactly what I needed! Yes those million things I needed to get done still need to be done, but what I realized yesterday is that sometimes we need to slow down and enjoy the greater things in life. So often I get consumed with the little things. I worry about so much that I can't even control!! I need to remember to "Let go and let God". I need to enjoy my husband more often and remember the reasons we fell in love. I need to not worry about the millions of things I can't control. I need to enjoy my children more and live more in the moment. Simply put, I need to relax and enjoy my life. Because I have only one on this Earth and I better make it count! Because God has truly blessed me with so much. And you, too! Just look around. Look at the beautiful blue sky and enjoy it!:)
So here is to an attitude of gratitude. And worrying less. Well at least trying!:)
I flipped my calendar and this was the picture today. You think God is trying to tell me something:)

Happy Wednesday!!
